Welcome to Mickel Therapy
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, FMA or FMS – is a growing problem in our culture. The name is descriptive of the main symptoms involved, namely painful muscles and fibres. This is an unhelpful diagnostic term, as people with Fibromyalgia will contest. It merely refers to the painful symptoms and does not give any clue as to the cause.
Mickel Therapy believes that Fibromyalgia is part of the spectrum of symptoms caused by a dysfunctional Hypothalamus gland. As you will learn, the Hypothalamus is the master control of many of our vital systems and nerve pathways. The symptoms involved in Fibromyalgia clearly overlap those of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and M.E. The main difference is that in Fibromyalgia the predominant effect is noticeable as increased sensitivity in the muscles and connecting tissues. It is very important for one to understand that despite the severity of the pain, Firomyalgia has not been found to be a condition of widespread inflammation or destruction. Thus, your body is much closer to returning to it’s natural state than you have been led to believe.
Sufferers of Fibromyalgia will be all too aware of the discomfort associated with this condition. The areas of concentrated pain or ‘trigger points’ are well documented in the literature on Fibromyalgia. They are representative of areas used by acupuncturists for centuries. They are areas of concentrated muscle fibres or energy blocks in the meridians if we look through the eyes of acupuncture.
Unfortunately Medical science is spending much time and resources researching the changes that occur within muscles in Fibromyalgia. This is wasted time since these are merely effects and give no clue as to the cause of Fibromyalgia.
Mickel Therapy works on the assumption that Fibromyalgia is caused, like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and M.E, by the dysfunction of the Hypothalamus gland that we have dubbed ‘Hypothalamitis.’(This is a hypothesis and is not validated by research as yet) Dr Mickel’s book on the subject explains the symptoms of Fibromyalgia in these terms.
