Having suffered from CFS (M.E) for over 7 years, following a bout of Glandular Fever in 2006, I found myself at a loss as to what to try next to try and find a solution to my condition. My symptoms had got progressively worse over the years to the extent where I was forced to completely refrain from work. On some days I didn’t even have the energy to get out of bed, a stark contrast to the young man I once was, completing the Great North Run in 2005 and leading an energetic, fruitful life. I sought support from the NHS, along with various other alternative treatments, in an attempt to take control of my life again but nothing I tried showed any longstanding improvement in my symptoms. Then, early in 2013, I was advised by my Occupational Therapist of a treatment known as ‘Mickel Therapy’ which had proved to be effective for some of her other patients suffering from the condition. Having tried various other so called ‘fixes’ I was of course dubious about paying for another course of treatment. I didn’t, however, have any other places to turn to and so, I decided to give it a try.
I am so pleased that I did and I can’t emphasise this enough.
I embarked on my Mickel Therapy journey with renewed hope and with the ongoing support of my Mickel Therapist, Clare, who was always on hand (and still is) whenever I needed her. Clare has patiently guided me through the Mickel Therapy process over the phone, at frequent intervals, and I found this to be an ideal method of delivery. I’m not saying that I was instantly healed after my first session, nor did I expect this to be the case, but I did notice signs of improvement in the first couple of weeks. Mickel Therapy is a process which you have to work at and consider in everything you do. Clare gave me the tools to change my life, it was down to me to understand and apply them. I cannot speak highly enough of Clare. Without her assured guidance and support I would not be in the position I am in today.
So, where does this leave me now? Well, following a continued absence from work of over two years, yesterday I ventured into the office and successfully completed my first few hours of what is a graded return to action. I’m not claiming to be symptom free (yet) but Mickel Therapy has enabled me to achieve this personal goal and my return to work is the next stage in the rehabilitation process and the next step in my Mickel Therapy journey. I’m absolutely delighted that I decided to try Mickel Therapy and I would urge anyone as dubious as I was to ‘take the plunge’ and give it a go.
Mickel Therapy has given me my life back!
