Find the right level of support

Everyone’s starting point is different—and that’s okay.

Most clients benefit from some individual guidance while learning the Mickel Therapy® process. Others feel comfortable beginning independently. Both routes contain the complete Core Course—the difference is the level of personal support included from the beginning.

Choose the route that feels right for you now. You can always add further support later.

Guided Core Course

£595 — course plus three sessions

If you feel that some individual guidance would help, the Guided route gives you lifelong access to the complete Core Course together with three sessions from one of our team coaches.

After purchase, we’ll ask you to complete a short intake form. We’ll then introduce you to the coach who best fits your needs, language and time zone, while taking current availability into account. Your three sessions can be used at the points that feel most helpful within nine months.

Self-Directed Core Course

£295 — lifelong course access

If it feels right to begin at your own pace, Self-Directed gives you lifelong access to the same complete Core Course without private sessions included.

You may already have suitable support, prefer to learn independently or simply want the most affordable place to begin. If you later feel that a conversation would help, you can add a team-coach session for £110 at any stage.

Not sure which route feels right?

You can begin Self-Directed and add coaching later, or choose Guided from the outset if you already know that some personal support would help.

A limited number of free 20-minute conversations are available, but you do not need to wait for one before beginning.

Mickel Therapy® Coach Training

Become a Mickel Therapy® Coach

Learn the method. Embody the work. Help others create meaningful change.

Mickel Therapy® Coach Training is for people who feel drawn to helping others understand the deeper signals behind prolonged activation, fatigue, overwhelm and persistent symptoms.

This is not simply training in a set of techniques. It is an opportunity to develop a different way of listening—to the person, to the Body, and to what may be asking to change in their life.

Through the training, participants learn the principles, language and practical coaching skills of Mickel Therapy® and develop the confidence to begin working with clients themselves.

The starting point

A Different Way of Understanding Symptoms

Mickel Therapy® begins with a simple but profound shift.

Rather than viewing persistent symptoms only as things that have gone wrong, we explore them as meaningful outputs arising within a body that has remained in a Prolonged Activation State (PAS).

The work helps clients become more aware of the signals their Body is continually generating—and of the emotional, relational and fulfilment-related changes those signals may be asking for.

As a coach, your role is not to diagnose, fix or persuade. It is to help someone listen more clearly. To recognise patterns. To reconnect with their emotional truth. And ultimately to become increasingly able to respond to their own Body without depending upon you.

The curriculum

What You Will Learn

The Coach Training develops both your understanding of Mickel Therapy® and your ability to work confidently with another person.

Foundations of Mickel Therapy®

Understand symptoms as meaningful outputs of the Body’s signalling system. Explore Prolonged Activation State (PAS), the coordinating role of the hypothalamus and the distinction between the Head-Mind and the sensory, energetic Body.

Core Skills of Mickel Therapy®

Develop practitioner presence, empathic listening, reflection and emotional precision. Learn to recognise activation, excessive analysis and patterns of pressure or self-abandonment—and gently support a return to embodied awareness.

Body Signals, Symptoms & Message Work

Learn to distinguish symptoms from the underlying Body signals generating them. Help clients recognise recurring signals, including the Four Body Emotions, and translate growing awareness into emotionally aligned action.

Working With Prolonged Activation

Explore how activation can be continually renewed when present Body signals remain unaddressed. Learn how Boundaries, Honest Communication and Fulfilment can reduce the ongoing need for activation and support meaningful change.

The Matrix & The Three Keys

Understand how conditioning, people-pleasing, emotional suppression and self-abandonment can shape repeating patterns. Support clients to make consistent, realistic changes through Boundaries, Honest Communication and Fulfilment.

Integration & Real-World Coaching

Learn how to structure sessions, work constructively with resistance and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Develop through supervision, practitioner self-awareness and embodiment—while helping clients build greater independence and self-leadership.

Your professional future

One Training. Two Professional Pathways.

Successful completion of the programme gives you the knowledge and practical foundation to become a:

Certified Mickel Therapy® Coach

From there, there are two ways you may practise.

Pathway in active development

Mickel Therapy® Team Coach

Become part of the Mickel Therapy team.

Team Coaches are practitioners who work more closely with Mickel Therapy® and actively represent the current approach.

Potential opportunities may include:

  • A profile on the Mickel Therapy® website
  • Referrals from Mickel Therapy
  • Opportunities to coach clients taking Mickel Therapy online programmes
  • Ongoing supervision, team meetings and practitioner development
  • Greater visibility through the Mickel Therapy ecosystem
  • Future opportunities as the organisation and course offering grow
We are currently particularly interested in developing this pathway.
As the online courses grow, we want to develop a small group of excellent coaches who understand the work deeply and can support clients as they move through our programmes.
Team membership is by mutual agreement.
Team Coach status is not a higher qualification. It reflects a closer ongoing professional relationship with Mickel Therapy®.
Independent practice

Mickel Therapy® Affiliate Coach

Take the work into your own independent practice.

Affiliate Coaches have completed Mickel Therapy® Coach Training but practise independently rather than as part of the active Mickel Therapy team.

This may particularly suit someone who already has their own:

  • coaching or therapy practice
  • health or wellbeing business
  • professional identity or specialist area
  • established client community

An Affiliate Coach may make Mickel Therapy central to their work or integrate its principles alongside existing professional skills. They remain professionally connected to Mickel Therapy® while retaining greater independence over how they build and develop their practice.

Where appropriate, Affiliate Coaches may also have access to ongoing supervision, professional updates and further practitioner development.
Clear and equal

Two Pathways. One Standard of Training.

The distinction between Team Coach and Affiliate Coach is not about one being better qualified than the other. Both begin with exactly the same Mickel Therapy® Coach Training. The difference is the professional relationship they have with Mickel Therapy after qualifying.

Affiliate Coach

  • Independent practice
  • Own clients and professional identity
  • Connected to Mickel Therapy®

Team Coach

  • Active member of the Mickel Therapy ecosystem
  • Potential Mickel Therapy referrals and course-coaching opportunities
  • Website presence where appropriate
  • Closer ongoing professional relationship

Your pathway does not necessarily have to remain permanent. An Affiliate Coach may later become a Team Coach where there is mutual fit and opportunity; a Team Coach may also later choose independent Affiliate practice.

Suitability

Who Is The Training For?

You do not need to become somebody different to do this work. But you do need curiosity, emotional maturity and a genuine willingness to listen.

Previous clinical or therapeutic qualifications may be helpful, but suitability is considered individually. What matters enormously is a person’s capacity for presence, self-awareness and willingness to engage with the work in their own life.

The training may particularly suit:

  • Coaches, therapists and counsellors
  • Health professionals
  • Practitioners working with chronic symptoms or emotional wellbeing
  • People with significant personal experience of Mickel Therapy®
  • People considering a meaningful new professional direction
Embodied learning

You Will Experience the Work Yourself

Mickel Therapy® is difficult to understand purely intellectually. For that reason, Coach Training is not simply about learning what to say to someone else.

Participants will also be encouraged to explore their own Body signals, Matrix patterns, boundaries, honest communication, fulfilment and the ways in which the Head-Mind can override what the Body is already signalling.

Because ultimately, the more deeply you embody the work yourself, the less you need to perform it with somebody else.
Qualification

What Happens After Training?

Successful completion of the training and assessment leads to recognition as a:

Certified Mickel Therapy® Coach

You can then begin practising through the Affiliate Coach pathway, or explore joining the Mickel Therapy Team where there is mutual fit and availability.

Ongoing supervision and continued professional development are important parts of maintaining good practice.

Community

A Growing Practitioner Community

Mickel Therapy® continues to evolve. The Prolonged Activation State framework, our growing online course ecosystem and the increasing reach of Mickel Therapy are creating new opportunities for practitioners who genuinely resonate with this work.

We want to develop thoughtful, grounded practitioners who understand the principles deeply and can bring them to life authentically.

For those who feel particularly aligned, the Team Coach pathway offers an opportunity to become part of that continuing journey.

Essential prerequisite

Before You Train

All Coach Training applicants must complete the Mickel Therapy® Core Course before beginning Coach Training.

The Core Course provides the essential conceptual and experiential foundation for the professional training, including the current Mickel Therapy framework, Prolonged Activation State, Body signalling, the Three Keys and the principles that underpin the coaching work.

Coach Training therefore builds upon the Core Course rather than repeating it from the beginning.

The Core Course is purchased separately and is not included or credited against the Coach Training fee. This allows the application process to confirm that each participant has completed the Core Course and has personal experience of the treatment process before training begins.

Dr David Mickel MBChB MRCGP

Founder of Mickel Therapy®

For more than 25 years, Dr Mickel has explored a different way of understanding persistent symptoms: not simply as signs that the body is broken, but as meaningful communication that can be listened to and understood.

His work as a doctor, and his experience of working with thousands of people around the world, led to the development of Mickel Therapy®—an approach that continues to evolve as our understanding of the Body’s own communication deepens.

Your next step

Could This Be Your Next Step?

If something in this work has already made sense to you at a deeper level—perhaps because of your own experience, your work with others, or simply the way you understand human beings—Coach Training may be worth exploring.

The first step does not need to be a commitment to train. Complete the existing Training Application and the team will contact you by email about fit, acceptance and the next available intake.
